Discovering I'm Dextrocardic

Of all things I might do or learn in Japan, I never expected to unravel the mysteries of my heart. But, alas, upon receiving the results of a mandatory health exam I underwent last month, I discovered the shocking truth... I am dextrocardic! That's right. Unlike most people in the world, my heart is on the right side instead of the left. Apparently only about 1 in 10,000 people have their hearts on the wrong (i.e. the right) side. Consequently, the contraption they hooked me up to during the exam (as part of standard routine I had to lie on a table with clamps on my ankles and wrists and suction cups attached to my chest) showed my heart rhythms to be somewhat irregular. What does this mean? It means I have to go in for more heart tests... And truth be told, I'm completely phobic of all matters cardiovascular.

Sucks to be dextrocardic in Japan.

Hi Sarah,
It sometimes does suck when one discovers that he/she is made a bit different from the majority of the 'normal' people. I have some health related uniqueness myself, so I sort of know how you feel. Although it's scary, learning more about your condition will definetely help. Ganbatte ne. Kitto daijoobu yo. Love, Misa
