Sarah Does the Math

Each student in my writing class has to write at least 10 pages in their journal. I have approximately 25 students to a class, and 2 writing classes this semester. Thus, 10 x 25 = 250, 250 x 2 = 500. I HAVE TO READ 500 PAGES of this garbledy goop in the next week and a half!!! Help.....

Hi Sarah,

I have been teaching ESL for over 15 years (as you may know). I gave up assigning writing in journals years ago precisely because reading them was so time-consuming. I hope you don't have to comment on everything or, god forbid, correct everything. Can you get out of assigning journal writing in the future? Can you skim read and write a general comment at the end? Or just tell them you will only read excerpts but they have to write anyway because they won't know which excerpt you'll read. Do they get marks for this? Whose dumb idea was this anyway?

By the way, Avaleigh Neill is here on a visit and she says hi. She was wondering if you had any news about François...Melanie
