Hello and, as they say in Japan after a long time no news, "O-hisashiburi!!" I hope this posting finds all those who are patient enough to keep up with my blog well and in good spirits.
I got back to Tokyo this past weekend after an absolutely fantastic time in Southeast Asia. Unfortunately, I won't be able to post pictures or anything just yet because tomorrow I'm hitting the road again, this time on a two-week "walking pilgrimage" around the island of Shikoku, in Southeast Japan. Southeast must be my lucky cardinal direction! I'm headed there with Oberlin Shansi Fellow Malcolm Hoshi to trek from temple to temple before we resume ESL teaching duties again in April.
The other big news on my end is that I've been accepted (full funding included) to my top choice for graduate school, the cultural anthropology PhD program at Yale University (with a focus on Japan). In a nutshell, it's back to the U.S. of A. for me, once my fellowship here ends in July.
I do plan to post pictures of my trip once I'm a little more stationary, but for now it's off to the hinterlands of rural Japan!

Sarah,
Congratulations!!! This is great news. You could have tried for a better school than Yale...haha.
It's up to you to bring Japan and the U.S. closer.
Greg
